With so many students heading to college for the first time in just a little over a month, Chicken Soup for the Soul’s latest book, Campus Chronicles has perfect timing and might make a great gift.
Chicken Soup for the Soul: Campus Chronicles offers advice and support to students, whether they are preparing for graduation day or beginning orientation. With inspirational stories about overcoming fears and trying something new, this tell-all book is filled with accounts from experienced collegians as they help others learn who they are, and more importantly, who they are not.
With candid stories like Maloney’s, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Campus Chronicles is divided into sections ranging from “Campus Antics” to “Difficulties and Obstacles,” offering stories on first loves, acclimating to college life, resolving roommate squabbles and surviving that dreaded class. Brimming with wisdom for students and parents, the book is an excellent conversation-starter for parents to talk to their teen about being away from home, providing them with an opportunity to share stories from their college days.
Inside Chicken Soup for the Soul: Campus Chronicles, you’ll also read about:
- One student’s struggle with the hardest decision: “What’s my major?”
- Studying abroad in Venice, Chile and Scotland
- Finding closure in a college romance gone bad
- An unusual spring break trip spent serving others in need
- Dealing with a problematic roommate’s unwanted guests
The Fairy Godmother Academy

I just found out about a new book series that I’m sure Cameron is going to love and so I wanted to come by and share a preview of this series with you guys. The series will be called The Fairy Godmother Academy. The first book will be called Birdie’s Book will be released August 25th, and I’ve already added this to my calendar. Cameron (well, our family) has had a love for Disney for so long that this transferred over to a love for anything princess or fairy involved. After looking over the previews of The Fairy Godmother Academy at their developing online social community, I think this will be like the Precious Girls Club, we’ll be anxiously waiting each new book.
And the best news? I’ve just received an email stating that A Novel Mind will receive some giveaway copies for your young readers. How exciting is that?

Pitch Bloggers

When I started blogging, it was just for me to record the happenings of my family’s day to day life. Then I learned about people making money while blogging and looked into that for a while, but after finding the world of review bloggers, I knew I’d found something I’d really enjoy doing and thanks to Trisha and all the ladies at the MomDot forum, I slowly started making connections that had people sending me products to review instead of just picking up things around the house to review.
After that started taking off, this blog was born as I wanted a place to do only book reviews. Thanks to Trisha, I am now looking at being able to make even more contacts and provide you with a wider variety of book reviews. How? Through a new company – Pitch Bloggers. Pitch Bloggers is a place for mom reviewers and PR reps to join together – to connect – to provide the blogosphere with more and better reviews.
To PR Reps, Pitch Bloggers says:

We are all about helping you cut through the clutter to find the right mix of mom bloggers and tools you need for a successful campaign. www.pitchbloggers.com can assist you by:

Blog Party Coming Soon

The design is done. I’ve decided the first few books I want to read and write about so there’s only one thing left to do – we have to have a Grand Opening Party. Yes you heard me correctly – we’re going to have a book party. There will be prizes for both adults and kids and maybe even one for teens (I’m working with a special sponsor and hoping things will work out).
This party will last a week long March 14 to 21st and it promises to be lots of fun. Stay tuned. We’ll start with some early posts between now and then, but after that week, we’ll be posting in full swing.
What books can you expect to be reviewed? In addition to new books that I read, I’m going to go back and reread The Women’s Murder Club and Janet Evanovich’s books about Stephanie Plum so that I can post reviews of this series from the beginning as they are two that I think almost every woman will enjoy. In addition, I’m going to be reading some young adult literature and “classic” literature.
Make sure you don’t miss the party or the wide variety of book reviews to come by subscribing now so that you are notified of each new post here at A Novel Mind.
Would you like to start earning contest credits now?
If you put our grand opening button on your site in your sidebars and come back here and post in comments the URL of your site by March 13th, you’ll earn 3 extra entries into every Grand Opening prize.
Write a post by March 13th and come back here and post the URL of the post and receive 5 extra entries.
That’s the potential of earning 8 extra entries into every contest during the Grand Opening week.
Be sure to come back and comment here after you’ve done so. Comments will be closed to this post at midnight CST on March 13th.
Kids Want Ink Pens

This may seem like an odd post for my book blog, but I know that those of us who love to read tend to be the ones that also understand and would want to support such a cause.
I am a member of an organization called Sodiers’ Angels who work to support our troops overseas. I have participated by signing my brother up for the support while he was in Iraq and also adopting a soldier who is currently in Iraq. In addition, I try to send out sympathy cards to anyone in our area that loses a family member overseas. This time I have a pretty unique request from my Soldiers’ Angels contact, and I thought this was something that many of us could participate and help with. See the message below.
It seems that the kids in Afghanistan and Iraq want nothing more than a ink pen. A pen to a child in Afghanistan and Iraq is like a scholarship to these children. They desperately want to learn but, without a pen, they simply won’t.
Will you help a child with their dream of owning their very first ink pen? Trust me, freedom to write is a very big deal. Anyone interested in helping these poor children would be simply wonderful.
The pens don’t have to be new but still in good condition. Clean out your junk drawer, everyone has extra pens. Ask your local businesses, banks, stores, if they would donate pens. Dollar Stores are a great place to find great deals on pens.
When our men and women in uniform give a child a pen or other school supplies, they are helping these countries by befriending the younger generation who in years to come will view the military as friends. Hopefully when they get older they will help us help their country.
They can be shipped directly to:
Soldiers’ Angels
112 Greenhill Road
Ramseur, NC 27316If you can add, some spiral notebooks or pads of paper would be nice to toss in the package, too.
Thank you very much~
May No Soldier Go Unloved
May No Soldier Walk Alone
May No Soldier Be Forgotten
Until They All Come Home.

Welcome to My New Blog
February 4, 2009 by Kimberly

Hi. My name is Kimberly. I began my blog writing with a sub blog on Chatty Women. It didn’t take me long to want to venture out and write more varied topics and have the freedom to work on the design and backside of blogging. From that, All About Kimberly was born. I’ve been at it over there for a year and enjoyed every minute. I could easily become obsessed with blogging and do it full time (if only those bill collectors weren’t insistent on receiving their money). I found that my blog was too general though and wanted to create a blog with more focus and thus, A Novel Mind.
So what will A Novel Mind be about? This will be my blog to discuss different books. The longterm goal is asking a few other bloggers I know to contribute so that A Novel Mind becomes a resource no matter the type of book you read or you’re looking for. Historical? Ficition? Chick Lit? Mystery? Children’s? You name it – my goal is to slowly add more and more variety by both branching out in my reading and adding those blogging friends.
My really longterm goal if you stick with me? To get enough recognition to start going beyond the books and interviewing authors, publishers, illustrators….and maybe to host book related contests.
Follow me on my journey into the world of “A Novel Mind.”
